IN PRAISE OF IMPERFECTION
The Pleat pitcher is shaped by a simple gesture, a clear and powerful tweak that deforms a perfect cylinder, generating all at once its meaning, function and expression. With one pull of the cylindrical body, a spout is formed. Whilst creating a highly functional piece, this action reveals the strength and simplicity of the pitcher.

THE FREEDOM OF THE MATERIAL
Contrary to common industrial ways, Pleat’s outline has not been imposed, but instead, its shape is born from a careful material manipulation in which the mirror-polished steel is allowed to wrinkle following its own behaviour, releasing the beauty of its natural deformation. This way of treating the material does not only bring aesthetic value, but it is beneficial in other ways too, as in this folding process the entire structure is significantly strengthened, which allows a reduction in the thickness of the material to the minimum.

AND IT’S DRIPLESS
The pitcher has a dripless pour, and its 90mm diameter makes for a perfect one-hand grip, holding 1litre of liquid.

Pleat was born as part of a speculative project investigating how to create individuality within serial production. More on it here: http://omayramaymo.com/PLEAT
