Los contenedores Grasp forman parte de un proyecto especulativo que muestra un rechazo al modelo est\u00e9tico dominante basado en la uniformidad y estandarizaci\u00f3n al que se ha visto sometido nuestro mundo material durante el \u00faltimo siglo. Grasp se produce a trav\u00e9s de una t\u00e9cnica industrial y unas herramientas completamente nuevas que permiten la creaci\u00f3n de resultados \u00fanicos a trav\u00e9s de la misma fabricaci\u00f3n automatizada en serie. Durante este proceso, se proporciona un grado de libertad altamente controlado al material, para que \u00e9ste se comporte de forma natural y genere arrugas \u00fanicas en cada ocasi\u00f3n, haciendo de cada pieza un objeto inigualable. Pleat (copper) SELF-PRODUCED 2016 CREATING INDIVIDUALITY WITHIN SERIAL PRODUCTION The Pleat pitcher is part of a speculative project that depicts a rejection of the dominant aesthetic model based on uniformity and standardization that our material world has been subjected to during the last century. The object of this investigation was how to create unique products out of the same industrial production process, generating more soulful objects capable of generating stronger emotional bonds with their owner. IN PRAISE OF IMPERFECTION The Pleat pitcher is shaped by a simple gesture, a clear and powerful tweak that deforms a perfect cylinder, generating all at once its meaning, function and expression. With one pull of the cylindrical body, a spout is formed. Whilst creating a highly functional piece, this action reveals the strength and simplicity of the pitcher. DESIGNING MORE HUMAN AND MEANINGFUL WAYS OF MANUFACTURING Pleat is produced through a completely new industrial technique and new tools that enable the creation of unique outcomes through the same serial, automated manufacturing. During this process, a degree of highly controlled freedom is provided to the material, for it to behave in its own natural way and generate unique wrinkles every time, making each piece a matchless object. Moreover, the production process remarkably strengthens the whole structure, enabling a reduction of the material thickness to a minimum. GENERATING A MORE THOUGHTFUL AND EMOTIONAL MATERIAL WORLD These objects speak about the necessary balance between perfect and imperfect, between the control applied and the freedom provided. The project aims to use the great power of our mass-production tools and bend it in our favour, in order to instil uniqueness, expressiveness and soul in the objects that surround us.
