1927 es una banqueta que habla de adaptaci\u00f3n a la adversidad, preservaci\u00f3n de la artesan\u00eda y colaboraci\u00f3n local. Forma parte de Kil\u00f3metro Zero, un proyecto que naci\u00f3 a ra\u00edz de la restricci\u00f3n de movimiento de un kil\u00f3metro de radio que sufrimos durante el desconfinamiento en Espa\u00f1a. El proyecto invitaba a un grupo de dise\u00f1adores espa\u00f1oles a participar produciendo una pieza elaborada utilizando \u00fanicamente los recursos encontrados dentro del \u00e1rea restringida por la que cada uno pod\u00eda moverse.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

El asiento est\u00e1 realizado en colaboraci\u00f3n con Juan S\u00e1nchez, que regenta la tienda de esparto que su abuelo abri\u00f3 en Madrid hace casi un siglo. Con su saber hacer y la madera encontrada en una tienda de tablas y molduras de la zona, el taburete se fabric\u00f3 con materiales y recursos locales del madrile\u00f1o barrio de La Latina<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Como la base del taburete tuvo que construirse en un sal\u00f3n con solo unas pocas herramientas dom\u00e9sticas disponibles, su estructura se inspir\u00f3 en las sencillas construcciones del democr\u00e1tico DIY de Rietveld y el movimiento De Stijl, que casualmente se estaba popularizando en Holanda al mismo tiempo que en La Latina el abuelo de Juan abr\u00eda su tienda de esparto en 1927. Reinterpretando la caracter\u00edstica 'uni\u00f3n Rietveld', los listones de madera se superponen creando una estructura a modo de composici\u00f3n espacial. El car\u00e1cter neopl\u00e1stico de la base se complementa con el car\u00e1cter r\u00fastico del asiento, realizado por Juan en cuerda de algas marinas, un material muy tradicional con el que se elaboran asientos de sillas, respaldos, adornos y otras artesan\u00edas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

1927 INDEPENDENT PRODUCTION 2020 A PROJECT BORN OUT OF ADVERSITY 1927 is a stool that speaks about adaptation to adversity, preservation of crafts and locally-based cooperation and sourcing. It is part of Kil\u00f3metro Zero, a project born out of the movement restriction of one-kilometre radius we underwent during the easing of lockdown in Spain. A group of designers was invited to participate, producing pieces using solely the resources found within these restricted areas each could move within. LOCALLY HANDCRAFTED The seat is made in collaboration with Juan S\u00e1nchez, who runs the esparto grass shop that his grandfather opened in Madrid almost a century ago. Using his know-how and the wood found at a local boards and mouldings shop, the stool was made with local materials and resources from the neighbourhood of La Latina in Madrid. MERGING RUSTIC & NEOPLASTIC As the stool base had to be built in a living room with only a few household tools available, its structure was inspired by the uncomplicated constructions of Rietveld’s democratic DIY and the De Stijl movement, which coincidentally was becoming popular in Holland at the same time as Juan’s grandfather opened his esparto grass store in La Latina in 1927. Reinterpreting the characteristic ‘Rietveld union’, wood battens overlap creating a structure in the form of a spatial composition. The neoplastic character of the base is complemented by the rustic nature of the seat, made by Juan in seagrass rope, a very traditional material used to make chairs, backrests, decorations and other crafts.
