Malva surge como un h\u00edbrido entre estanter\u00eda y vitrina para continuar la filosof\u00eda de dise\u00f1o de la banqueta 1927. El proyecto busca subrayar la relevancia de preservar lo local y lo artesanal mediante un di\u00e1logo entre tradici\u00f3n y modernidad. A diferencia de los cerramientos r\u00edgidos de vidrio o madera que presentan las vitrinas y armarios convencionales, Malva propone una alternativa blanda y permeable. Utiliza la gasa para envolver el contenido con una calidez org\u00e1nica, formando una piel que transforma la percepci\u00f3n de los objetos seg\u00fan la luz que recibe. Manteniendo la honestidad y sencillez constructiva de la banqueta 1927, que fue creada durante el desconfinamiento de 2020 con herramientas dom\u00e9sticas y recursos limitados, su estructura reinterpreta la junta cartesiana de Rietveld mediante una \u00fanica dimensi\u00f3n de list\u00f3n de pino macizo, generando una construcci\u00f3n extremadamente sencilla y estable. Malva INDEPENDENT PRODUCTION 2026 MERGING TRADITION AND MODERNITY Malva emerges as a hybrid between a shelving unit and a display cabinet, providing continuity to the design philosophy that began with the 1927 stool. The project seeks to highlight local roots and artisanal techniques by fostering a dialogue between tradition and modernity. The protagonist is a Spanish organic cotton gauze, cultivated on the banks of the Guadalquivir River and fully hand-sewn, which provides the piece with a unique identity. THE INTERPLAY OF LIGHT AND FABRIC Unlike the rigid glass or wood enclosures of conventional cabinets, Malva proposes a soft and permeable alternative. The cotton fabric, which organically defines its own curves and volumes, provides lightness and freedom. It envelops the contents creating a warm, soft skin that transforms the perception of the inside objects based on the light it receives, filtering the transparency with a delicate texture. This visual interplay allows a glimpse of the objects stored inside, while providing a very special material warmth. Uniquely, the cabinet’s opacity increases under direct frontal lighting but becomes more translucent under indirect light, revealing the objects within. Malva seeks to revalue this natural fiber in the face of the Spanish cotton industry crisis which, much like the wool sector, is in decline due to the rise of synthetic fabrics.
